Tesopaco is one of the poorest counties in the Mexican State of Sonora. Presently, a Seventh-day Adventist church and an elementary school are operating in the area, working with the community, especially in the area of education. The school is working with their Conference to expand into a boarding high school. Last year, we built an expansion to the dormitory. Our project goal for 2011 is to construct a cement-block cafeteria, complete with roof in the allocated time. Several trades people and skilled workers will direct the group in their daily tasks to make this goal a reality for the school.

It will be wonderful to bless the school with a dormitory, but the participants themselves will receive some benefits. First and foremost, it will be an opportunity to be a set of helping hands doing a job for Christ. This trip will also present the experience of serving others and learning about a new country and culture. Our participants will witness firsthand the impact of their actions, and how their blessing will benefit young people like them for years to come.

We are looking for youth, young adults, and those who are young at heart, to participate. Participants must be at least 16 years of age or older. The maximum number of people that can be accommodated on this trip is 32. Others from across Canada will be invited to send in their applications to be a part of this trip. In determining eligibility to participate in this project, we will be looking at the following:

1) Commitment to Service

2) Recommendation of a Pastor

3) Commitment to the project as indicated by fund raising for the project

People interested in participating in the trip will recognize that when the expenses for the trip are totaled and divided by the number of participants, the average per person cost is $1,800.00. Each participant will want to do his or her best to raise funds that will enable those costs to be covered. It is essential that each deadline be met as plane tickets must be purchased and funds to purchase materials for construction must be sent to Mexico prior to our arrival. Therefore, if you are interested in participating in the trip, you will need to ensure that you meet the following deadlines:
