Horizons Youth Rally

Horizons Poster

The definition of horizon is the “line where the earth’s surface and sky seem to meet”.  At our youth rally, we want to create a place where God meets us, just as the sky and earth meet at the horizon.  Watch a new day arise in your life with the hopes and dreams God has placed in you. He is waiting for us and can’t wait to meet with you!

SPEAKER: Pastor Paul Llewellyn

Screen Shot 2019-01-15 at 2.09.33 PMPastor Paul is currently serving as the President of the Maritimes Conference.  Before taking this role, he served as the Youth Director for the Maritimes and previously was a teacher as well.  Paul loves sharing the Amazing Grace of Jesus and how our level of growth interprets Gods love at various periods of our growing.  As a teenager and young adult, Paul was scared of God and especially scared of the events surrounding the soon return of Jesus.  Now Paul sees God as a loving Father that will intimately care for His children no matter what they are going through. When He says that He will never leave us, God is telling us one of the greatest truths in the Bible and one that most of us will realize much later in life. The book of Romans is a book that reveals a lot of truth about ourselves and what a true christian will live like as they come to fall in love with Jesus. Paul has a great passion to see teens and young adults come to know the God that is found in the book of Romans and how we become a united people heading towards a new horizon with a new understanding of God and His plan for us and our church as we grow in Grace.  He is happily married and has two young adult children, Jessica and Daniel.

Believe Youth Rally 2018

Believe banner

What do you believe? This is fundamental to almost all things in your life but most importantly to our faith journeys. When Jesus was on earth, He asked the disciples, “who do you say that I am?” and this question still rings in our ears. Who do you believe Jesus to be? Is He some historical figure that did good things OR is He a living personal friend of yours? Come explore this thought with us at the next Youth Rally in Winnipeg!

Finding God’s Voice

The Man-Sask Youth Rally in Saskatoon concluded this past weekend. It was held at the Victoria Avenue Seventh-day Adventist Church in Saskatoon. Friday night, Nov 18, Pastor Jordane Smith began her series on the weekend theme of “Speak”. There are so many distractions in this modern world and her sermons were designed to help others listen to God “speak” in their lives and actually hear the loving call of God.

Sabbath morning there were over 190 people in attendance, including Victoria Avenue members and then evening programs had over 110, a healthy increase over previous youth rallies.

Sabbath afternoon included outreach opportunities for street ministry and homeless ministry. Attendee Kristian Wall, from Winnipeg, said that “singing at a homeless shelter was quite nice, because at first it was kind of nerve-wracking to sing for them, I’ve never done that before, but as you get into it and you can see the looks on people’s faces, I felt like we were doing a good deed, that’s what I thought…I hope we blessed someone that weekend.” Though the day was cloudy and chilly, the youth brought many smiles to people’s faces through flowers, high fives, and their voices.

As the weekend drew to a close and the last song was sung, the youth gathered together around the stage to sing “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters wherever You would call me…” May the youth be inspired to follow God’s voice and know that they are loved and are worth so much in God’s eyes. Ryan Aikens, also from Winnipeg, said, “my highlight was being with all my friends and getting to meeting new people and getting together and coming closer”.

The weekend would not have been a success without the help of a group of young adults from Saskatoon called LOGOS Collective.  The members of this group are talented and passionate about ministry and took much of the lead for the rally.  The Youth Department were honored to work with them and thank them for the hard work that they put into the weeks of planning and into the weekend itself.

Special thanks also to Pastor Julio and the Victoria Ave. Church who graciously opened up their doors to host this event.  Many of the church members dove into helping with the weekend events and supporting the youth.  We also want to thank all the adult sponsors who made this weekend a reality for their local youth.  There were many parents and youth leaders who drove van loads of youth many hours so that the youth could come.  We are blessed to have such devoted adults for our youth.
